NJIDA's Annual SIFFT, Summer Institute Food for Thought. Participants enjoyed practical and thought-provoking workshops about DIBELS Next, the speech-language therapist's role in literacy learning and child advocacy.For more information click here.

NJIDA & NJSHA Spring Conference 2011: Scaffolding Reading Comprehension.
Dr. Anita Archer shared, with a room full of teachers and speech-language pathologists, a wonderful conference on evidence-based instructional strategies to scaffold student comprehension of informational and narrative text before, during  and after passage reading. Find out more here.

DYSLEXIA DASH 2010
The event, held annually during the IDA conference, had another successful year, raising nearly $75,000 for the International Dyslexia Association. Gordon Sherman and Dee Rosenberg represented the New Jersey branch, contributing about $700 to the cause.

NJIDA/NJSHA - READING INSTRUCTION: A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2010

The New Jersey Branch of the International Dyslexia Association and the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association joined to present Reading Instruction:  A Vision for the Future.   Dr. Marjorie Gillis, Senior Scientist & Project Director of the Literacy Initiative, Haskins Laboratories, discussed strategies for comprehensive reading instruction and the knowledge base needed to teach reading.
